CLD Handcrafted Hair, formally Vanity Hair Studio, was founded in 2006. Vanity began in a charming, eclectic 1930’s house on the 101 in Solana Beach. For (5 years), our team provided a vibe of being pampered in a home setting and friendly environment. Over time the girls outgrew the little casa and moved to a plush, modern loft located in the Design District of Cedros. After 5 years, there was a need to get back to the roots of a cozy studio. CLD Handcrafted Hair was created. The same talented team of stylists after 10 years, relocated to the quaint town of Leucadia. A place to unwind, relax, and enjoy all the comforts of a serene get away, while simultaneously being transformed into a new beautiful version of yourself.

The owner:

Carrie Kargman began doing hair in the film industry working on television and movie productions. While on hiatus from film work, she began working at a salon in Solana Beach. Being behind the chair sparked a whole new love for her career. She has worked in different salons over the past 19 years, and has taken numerous classes to further her career. Carrie has come to learn that the best education you can receive is learning from the stylists and clients around you. She specializes in coloring with current highlighting techniques, textured haircuts, and loves finishing work.

After Carrie’s first child and pregnant with her second, her dad sat her down and told her it was time to progress in her career by opening her own salon. And so, Vanity Hair Studio was born. She has enjoyed every moment of being a salon owner, simply because she loves what she does and the people she does it with. There has never been a day in her career that she has not been excited to come to work. She has worked with the same group of girls since she opened in 2006, with the addition of a couple new family members. She is humbled and proud of what they have all created together and is even more excited to begin this new journey with everyone at CLD Handcrafted Hair.

Bio:

Kassidy Branum:
Kassidy specializes in color, keratin, and extensions. Beginning her journey as a stylist in 2010, she strives to understand her clients’ hair needs and building their trust.

Amber DeRoads:
Amber has been a talented hair stylist since 2001. She enjoys staying at home with her two kiddos, while working part-time: enjoying the best of both worlds. Being a blonde herself, she loves creating any tone of blonde. She specializes in medium to long haircuts and always looks forward to seeing the final results after a blowout.

Shaye Petersen:
Shaye has been doing hair since 2001, 10 of those years have been at CLD Handcrafted Hair. She specializes in color and cutting. Her passion is creating soft, natural, beachy looks while maintaining the integrity of the hair.

Cori Ward:
Cori always knew from a young age her passion and career would be in the fashion industry. In 2004 following in her sister, Amber’s footsteps, she fell in love with being a hair designer. She considers Vanity to be her home away from home since 2001. Cori loves creating a complete look for every client with precision haircuts and natural color.

JaNea Drown:
JaNea has been a stylist since 2007. Starting her career assisting the owner of Vanity, she quickly built her clientele as a full-time stylist within 2 years. While being passionate about her work, she is a perfectionist when it comes to her clients’ hair. She specializes in color and cutting. She enjoys blonde hair using Balayage techniques. JaNea prides herself on continuing education in her industry.

Courtney Dean:
Courtney has been a stylist since 2003, starting her career, right here, in Solana Beach as an assistant for a year and a half. She joined the Vanity family in 2007. Courtney specializes and loves coloring: feeling like a scientist, mixing, formulating, and creating. She has an understanding and passion for cutting and a true gratification for the finished product. She loves learning all the new and current trends of her industry, and prides herself on really listening to what her clients’ needs are and what they want out of their style.

Danielle Bianiachi:
Danielle attended Arizona State University where she received her bachelor’ degree in film specializing in special effects hair and make-up for television and film. She continued her career as a graduate of Paul Mitchel the School San Diego. Danielle enjoys coloring, as well as cutting, and specializes in hair and make-up for special events and print work.
